Patriot Paths: The Power of Shared Experiences

What I've enjoyed most about my first five months at SHS has been connecting with our alumni. Patriots like Rebecca Silverman '13, who visited campus and shared her dreams of transforming Chicago's Roseland neighborhood through the power of books. Or Ed Gershon '93, who stopped by to view art he made as a student, and reminisce about life at Stevenson.

I’ve received emails, phone calls, and handwritten messages. Alumni reached out with news and accomplishments, or just to say hello. I heard from Al Scaletta '79, who completed his 72nd marathon in Tokyo, and David Roskelley '86, who ascended Earth's tallest summits. Sara Friedman '82 sent a Happy New Year postcard from Florida -- a warmly received note on a cold Illinois day.

I've enjoyed working alongside alumni like Stevenson's own Danielle Mall Colan '94 and Dan Miller '01, and planning milestone reunions with Carl Evans '03, Susan Chess Blumling '69, and Denise Majewski '73 has me excited for this year's Homecoming celebrations.

Big or small, near or far, no story is the same. From recent grads to some of our very first Patriots, our alumni's journeys are unique, but each of their paths leads back to SHS. I hope you'll pass along your news and updates to share with fellow Patriots -- look forward to hearing from you in the months ahead.
